The satellite town of Tampines in the eastern part of Singapore was being transformed and brought to commercial activities by the mushrooming of shopping centres and office buildings since the early 1990’s.

Tampines Mall Shopping Centre is located in the centre of Tampines New Town. The project comprises a 7-storey retail complex with 3 levels of basement. It provides over 67,000 square metres of commercial space including a supermarket, shops, restaurants, a cineplex and car parks in the basements.

The building, which rests on a raft foundation, rises approximately 35 metres from existing ground level. The superstructure is constructed of a reinforced concrete frame with suspended prestressed flat slabs. The cinema tower is constructed of structural steel frame and precast hollow core slab.

The commercial complex, which commenced in the last quarter of 1993, was completed in 1996 and Northcroft was the Consultant Quantity Surveyor since inception.
